You have arrived in Sri Lanka, or rather "the resplendent island"! Your driver, who will welcome you at the exit of the airport, will lead you immediately towards the Cultural Triangle. This morning, visit Selyn, a social and solidarity company specializing in artisanal weaving. A lunch cooked by the villagers is planned on location. In the afternoon, visit the toy factory. After all these discoveries, go to Habarana, in the heart of the Cultural Triangle.
On the way, discover the Golden Temple of Dambulla, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its incredible cave temples perched on top of a hill. In this pilgrimage site you will see statues of Buddha as well as beautiful murals, one of the richest examples of cave art in the world. You are going to visit Polonnaruwa this morning, but today the city is inhabited by monkeys, nevertheless, it was the royal capital of Sri Lanka in the 11th and 12th centuries. Discover, by walking in this gigantic site (the bike option is highly recommended ), many stupas, ruins of palaces and temples but also the known Gal Vihara: 4 Buddhas carved in granite.
In the afternoon, go on a jeep safari to meet the elephants in Minneriya. In this park, famous for its huge elephant population of around 400 individuals, it is also possible to see other animals such as buffaloes, deer, toques, Hanuman and Hanuman many birds such as: hornbills of Ceylon, cormorants, black-headed bulbuls, cocks of Lafayette... Embark this morning on a train from Watagoda to Haputale (seats subject to availability). Today leave for the Sinharaja rainforest and when you arrive there, you will go for a half day trek with a guide to discover the fauna and flora.This tropical rain forest is a World Heritage Site.
